The manor was first built in the late 1800s as a hotel for railroad travelers called the Cottage Inn. However, the tragic history of Malvern starts after the Cottage Inn was closed and purchased as a residence for the Gibson family. The youngest girl in the family died in the house and the circumstances around her death have been widely debated. Found hanging in one of the rooms in the home, no one really knows the truth surrounding her tragic death. Some say her spirit still roams the manor searching for her family members and a sense of peace.
More disturbing stories from Malvern Manor come from its time as a nursing home for the mentally ill. Known for chilling abuse, the home was finally shut down for good in 2005, but not before many of the residents suffered through years of mistreatment.
In a long closed off section of the manor, a strong dark energy stirs. The attic is the most notorious room in the manor, causing many who spend more than 30 minutes in the space physical illness. No one has been able to determine what happened in the attic aside from a fire that damaged the fireplace and beams. Complete with paint, trim, and finishes, it looks like it was used as a living space at some point, but the details remain a mystery.
